SCHOOL HEALTH SERVICES
MSAD
#20 offers a comprehensive school health program encompassing all facets of
health - physical, mental, emotional, and social. The program is supported by the services of
the social worker, school psychologist, occupational therapist, physical
therapist, guidance counselor, nutritional food service director, and the
school nurse. All services are available
through the Special Education director, guidance, administration, or direct
access.
Health
services offered through the school nurse are as follows:

Generally,
administration of medications must be with written parental permission and a physician’s
order and must be stored in the clinic.
A new state law does allow some students to carry selected medications such as
inhalers and auto injectors. The school
nurse has more information.

Delivery
of emergency care with the parental guidance of completed and signed emergency
cards and a reference of adult contacts should parents be unavailable.
·
Immunization
clinics offered on site for routine immunization requirements.
·
Nursing
assessment and evaluation of health issues and conditions.
·
Annual
administration of sport physicals.
·
Referral
services.
·
Educational
programs offered on Asthma, First Aid, CPR, HIV, Tobacco, Awareness &
Cessation, Guardian Angel - Pregnancy & Family Planning. Annual Middle
School Health & Safety Fair.
·
Follow-up
and extension of the student's medical management by their healthcare provider
for delivery of treatment, rehab, and educational teaching.
·
Provide
medical and nursing information/resources for
student/parents during PET's.
